Nicholas Montgomery
Nicholas was born in Belfast and began studying the cello at Belfast Royal Academy with Rachel McGinley before continuing his studies with Alison Wells at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Throughout his studies he has had the opportunity to play for a number of wonderful cellists including Ursula Smith, Thomas Carroll and Alexander Baillie.
Nicholas is passionate about teaching and spent two years in the Junior Department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Nicholas enjoys helping each student find a healthy and natural way of playing the cello so that they can enjoy music and express themselves in their own unique way. He has experience of working with students from a wide range of backgrounds and experience and is confident that any person can learn to play well and enjoy making music.
Whilst in Scotland, Nicholas was part of a documentary made for the BBC in partnership with the University of Glasgow named ‘Burns, My Father and Me’ and more recently Nicholas has been working with Grammy Award Winning Band ‘White Sun’ in both Los Angeles and on Mallorca.
