Michael Hartin
Michael is a freelance trumpet player and educator based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He was introduced to trumpet playing from an early age through family influences and began his playing in primary school and through the City of Belfast School of Music. Following this, he was a member of many ensembles including City of Belfast Youth Orchestra and Concert Band, Ulster Youth Orchestra and Ulster Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Michael furthered his musical eduction at Queens University Belfast, studying a degree in Music and Sound Design, which was followed by a Postgraduate Diploma at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and The Royal Irish Academy of Music. This allowed him to study with many great tutors including Jon Holland, Alan Thomas, Richard Blake, Paul Young, Colm Byrne and David Collins.
Since finishing his studies, Michael has been working as a freelance performer and tutor throughout Northern Ireland. He performs regularly in pit bands and with professional orchestras including the Ulster Orchestra and The National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland.
